3rd: Copy and paste the following question into the:
        02 Statement of Intent
        page of your blog.
How do you intend to use the four areas of the media theoretical framework to communicate meaning and meet the requirements of your chosen brief? (approx. 400 words)

4th: Answer the question with reference to your two intended products.

Product 1 (Magazine, T.V. Show, Music Video, Radio Programme) 200 - 250 Words

a) State your audience (include details if you have narrowed your demographic).

b) List some of the codes of conventions of existing media within your genre.

c) Explain how you intend to use, develop of challenge these conventions.

NB: You should reference Media Language, Representation, Audience and Industry

Example:

My brief is to create a Rock Music Magazine aimed at an audience of 16 to 25. I have chosen to focus on a niche audience by targeting female readers. My research shows that Rock Music Magazine usually have a target demographic of young males and feature some of the following conventions:

  • Representations of young male artists (around the age of the target audience)
  • Mise en Scene (especially costume hair and makeup) - aspirational for young males, rebellious, leather jackets etc.
  • Low-Key lighting to emphasise aggressive/counter cultural facial expressions.
  • Cover/Sell Lines - Brief and punchy, Sensationalist Language, Lists of Artists
  • Strap Line suggesting noise, aggression,
  • Priced at £5, in keeping with most magazines of its type.
  • Front cover includes splashes with give-away offers etc. Posters, CD
My magazine will feature representations of young female artists to attract my target audience and will have a theme of female empowerment. Sell lines will be longer and more conversational in tone, in keeping with other magazines aimed at young women. Price will still be £5, as I don't want my audience to feel they are being treated as less worthy, but posters and giveaways will not feature as young female audiences tend to be attracted to more sophisticated media output, especially in magazines. The mise en scene will still feature low key lighting and more aggressive counter cultural messaging in terms of facial expression and costume as Rock music fans tend to be attracted to this type of idea.

DO THE SAME FOR CONTENTS

b) List some of the codes of conventions of existing media within your genre.

c) Explain how you intend to use, develop of challenge these conventions.

The four areas of the media theoretical framework (below each are questions that might help):

MEDIA LANGUAGE
 - What ideas do you wish to convey?
 - What will your product/s look like?
 - How will it/they be constructed in order to convey the ideas you wish to convey?

MEDIA INDUSTRY
 - How will your product be used to generate revenue?
 - What is its purpose?

MEDIA REPRESENTATION
 - What social groups will be presented in your productions?
 - What will you say about those social groups?
 - Why do you want to say this?

MEDIA AUDIENCES
 - Who is the intended audience?
 - What do you want them to think?
 - How are you manipulating the other elements to appeal to your audience?

5th: Answer the final question, drawing together all the ways that you will make the two products reference each other.

How do you intend to link your media products to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the digitally convergent nature of your media production? (approx. 100 words)
